We are seeking a strategic, commercial, and growth-minded Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will lead our financial organization and drive sustainable financial performance. In this role, you will work with everything from long-term capital strategy and investor relations to operational financial management and business navigation. You will play a key role in scaling our global impact and building a robust finance function that enables our rapid growth.

The position requires a proven track record in senior financial leadership, strong analytical rigour, and exceptional communication skills. As part of our leadership team, you are the strategic financial partner to the CEO, Board, and wider organization.

In this role, you will report directly to our CEO.

Your key responsibilities:
• Shape the company's long-term strategy as a member of the leadership team, reporting to the CEO and Board
• Own financial planning, including budgeting, multi-year forecasting, scenario planning, cash flow, and capital allocation across R&D, vessel production, technology scaling, and working capital
• Lead fundraising and investor relations, covering equity, debt, joint ventures, and non-dilutive grants, and report to the Board and investors, including on the use and impact of growth funding
• Drive commercial finance by leading pricing strategy, financial modeling for autonomous vessel commercialization, and negotiation of major client, partner, and vendor contracts
• Lead M&A and other inorganic growth initiatives, from evaluation through financial, tax, and legal due diligence
• Ensure accurate, timely reporting and robust controls, risk management, and compliance with Norwegian and international regulations, with oversight of accounting, tax, treasury, and audit
• Build and lead the finance team, processes, and systems to support rapid international growth

Relevant expertise in this role:
• Substantial experience in a senior finance leadership role (CFO, ideally within a scale-up, technology, maritime, defence, or hardware/deep-tech environment
• A strong track record of building and leading finance functions through periods of growth
• Experience working with institutional investors, Boards, and governance processes
• Solid understanding of Norwegian accounting standards and international financial reporting; experience with export-oriented or defence-adjacent businesses is an advantage
• Strategic mindset paired with strong operational and analytical rigour
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex financial information for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluency in English required; Norwegian language skills are an advantage
• Relevant degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field (MBA or equivalent is a plus)
• At least 12 years of relevant professional experience within finance

Who are you, then?
• You have a genuine enthusiasm for what we're building and enjoy being close to the business, not just to the numbers. You take the time to understand our technology, our customers, and our market well enough to see how financial decisions connect to what happens on the workshop floor and out on the water.
• You work well with people across the organization, and you're as comfortable in a conversation with our engineers as you are in a Board meeting. You build relationships based on trust, and you use them to move things forward together rather than alone.
• You're comfortable setting direction and standing behind it, while still listening and adjusting course when the situation calls for it. You bring structure and momentum to the finance function without making it feel like a bottleneck for the rest of the company.
• Perhaps most importantly: you're good at turning financial information into something the wider organization understands and feels ownership of - helping colleagues see the "why" behind the numbers, so financial thinking becomes part of how the whole company makes decisions, not something that lives only in the finance department.
• Leadership style: Hands-on strategic builder who can scale a lean finance organization into a world-class team while communicating complex data clearly to the Board and wider organisation. Leader with entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, driven and proactive. Bias for action. Take full ownership and accountability for actions. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
