Stillingsbeskrivelse
Protect the IT Systems behind the World’s largest open-hatch shipping fleet.
G2 Ocean is seeking an Information Security Engineer to our Information Security Team (3) in Bergen.
At G2 Ocean you will take part in all aspects of information security across G2 Ocean, Gearbulk and the Grieg Maritime Group. We have 330 employees, managing 120 vessels, with over 15 locations around the world. Our head quarter office is in Bergen. As the world’s largest ship operator within the Open Hatch segment, our operations depend on secure, reliable digital systems that function seamlessly across continents, time zones, and critical supply chains.
We are now strengthening our team with a technical information security engineer. You will be our hands-on specialist to complement our information security and compliance expertise. This role is for someone who wants to monitor, detect, investigate, harden, and improve systems that operate worldwide.
Not all information security roles are global. In shipping you can sharpen your information security skills in a truly global environment.
Your role and impact
As our new Information Security Engineer, you will play an important role in the technical implementation of our security program and policies, ensuring the resilience, confidentiality, integrity and availability of our information system and data. The main tasks:
• Monitor and respond to identified security threats and alerts and help prevent security incidents.
• Become a key security partner for our technical and operational teams, guiding the implementation of security controls.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and IT security audits to identify and address security issues.
• Develop our security engineering projects by designing and implementing a robust security architecture for our ISMS.
• Build resilience plans together with IT system owners to ensure readiness when incidents occur.
• Contribute to our compliance activities by ensuring technical alignment with industry standard frameworks and regulations (ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR), and by maintaining comprehensive security documentation.
Technical skills
You are an information security engineer with experience in several security domains and satisfy at least one of the following:
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Entra and 365 security policies and tools
• Experience with security tools (firewalls, EDR, IAM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners)
• Experience in hardening systems following industry best practices
• Experience in incident response or forensics
• Automation and scripting (Powershell)
• Broad understanding of technology. Experience with securing OT/ICS is a plus, but not a requirement.
• Knowledge or relevant work experience with cyber security frameworks and guidelines, e.g. NIST Cybersecurity Framework; CIS Controls; and/or ISO standards
• Certifications such as CEH, CISSP, CISM, OSCP, Microsoft or GIAC certifications
We prefer that you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in technical engineering or IT related field. Experience can compensate for education.
Personal skills
• Positive, accurate, structured and service-minded
• Passionate attitude and willingness to learn, strong interest in information security
• Willingness to discover and work with various technologies and topics
• Focus on delivering solutions that deliver value to the end users
• Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
• Excellent analytical, logical and problem-solving skills
• Team player, you are passionate about working with talented teammates.
