On behalf of ABB Robotics, we are seeking a Safety Software Specialist!
We are seeking an experienced Safety Software Specialist to facilitate and coordinate safety-related software development for industrial painting robots and their control systems. The ideal candidate will bridge technical implementation with regulatory compliance, ensuring our robotic systems meet international safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:• Facilitate safety software development activities for industrial painting robots and control systems
• Interpret and apply relevant safety standards, particularly ISO 13849 (Safety of machinery - Safety-related parts of control systems)
• Conduct safety assessments and risk analysis for robotic control systems
• Coordinate between software development teams, safety engineers, and compliance departments
• Review and validate safety functions in robot control software
• Maintain documentation for safety certification and audits
• Support continuous improvement of safety processes and methodologies
Required Qualifications:• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, preferably safety-related systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical standards and translate them into practical requirements
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills to work across multidisciplinary teams
• Experience in Python scripting
• Knowledge of automatic documentation generation
• Experience in interfacing with git, Azure DevOps and other big software systems
• Willingness to learn new domains
Preferred Qualifications:• Knowledge of and related machinery safety standards
• Familiarity with ISO 13849, ISO 10218 (Robot safety),
• Experience with safety software development lifecycle
• Understanding of safety PLCs, safety networks, and functional safety concepts
